 It's difficult being a "spring color" when the seasons fight your palette. Finding September-October-November (Type 1/ Light Spring) colors is a bit crazy.

I found this "cheating on your palette" page that was really helpful for me.

There are parts of the color wheel that may not be an exact match, but sometimes "close enough is close enough"

That's what the quiz gave me, I'll need to see where it goes. There are things that I really like - a corduroy skirt (not soft or visually light) and I have some "statement jewelry) that are not "clean, elegant, delicate, and sophisticated."

What I've learned (style-wise) this last year...

 

Stepping away from "Type 1" and "Bright Spring" was a good thing, overall. I still refer to those systems, but largely have leaned into descriptions, not labels.

 

• Warm (undertones) - although looking at the "cool" color fans, I feel like I might have misjudged that)
• Bright (bright clear chroma colors)
• Medium (medium dark hair, eyes or skin)

 

Style wise, I "took the quiz" and ended up with "elevated casual"

 

That piece took me beyond color, and more mindful of lines - I have a couple of skirts in wonderful colors, but I look like a throw pillow!

Boho Chic is a thing. I have a difficult time describing the difference between Boho Chic and Hippie Chic (I prefer to think of myself as Hippie Chic - maybe so I can wear bell bottoms -er...flares- without guilt)

Is the name "Boho Chic" disrespectful? Maybe, but it takes a few steps to get there.

Leaning into Secondary 3

 I'm also writing a post on using a description, rather than a label. That's important here.

When I use a "label" - it's a kind of box. I *must* be...[fill in the blank].

Even the Spring palettes I have show me a selection of floral/stripe/whatever patterns that this label should utilize.

Using Descriptions leaves me in a different space.

The description doesn't tell me what I should be, it tells me what I already know.
