About the photo. There is always "that guy". This is a California Quail - they're ground birds, like chickens. But there's always "that guy" that has to be different. "That guy" is identifying as a house finch (bird feeder bird). We love "that guy" doing his thing, his way. This is the "My Way" blog - I started it when I got my dx for diabetes, but there has always been a fashion/color thing going on. You'll still read about the medical piece, but far more about the color and fashion part of my life.

Live Your Truth (review)

The basic version...

Live Your Truth

Note:  the developer of the entire program is Carol Tuttle and she has branched out (before I discovered her) into some really New Age and Mystic stuff that I simply don't buy into and will not participate in.  BE AWARE of that danger)

I am ONLY dealing with the energy/color/fashion aspect.

Tuttle's theory is that there are four main energy types and each person will manifest a primary (T) and a secondary (s) energy type, giving us 12 combinations.  Each primary type has a combination of "yin" and "yang" energies.

(NOTE:  yin and yang are used in the fashion industry in a way that is *NOT* in the Eastern Mysticism sense.  They're a non-offensive way to denote a more masculine or feminine feel - color, design lines, patterns)

Tuttle teaches that these energies are set from birth and can be identified from facial features.

To get the full benefit of the program, you need to buy a "style kit" which includes 12 glossy card stock cards, three cards for each of the four Types - a large card with a palette of colors on one side and key words and design elements on the other, a smaller card with a reduced palette of the same colors and a sample of patterns for that type on the other, and a business card size palette that you can carry in your wallet at all times.

This style kit has been really helpful, and makes shopping easier, but in some way more frustrating because finding that "type's" navy or brown can be challenging.  Buying the kit gives you access to a Facebook Group for that type.

There is also a "Lifestyle" program you can buy with either a monthly or yearly subscription.  Just starting out, I'd recommend it.  This gives you LOTS of video tutorials and access to a Lifestyle Members Facebook group.  Seriously.  You can binge watch for hours.

If you're not sure of your type, they suggest a "30 day challenge" when you commit to wearing only your "type's" colors for 30 days.  I did this and felt like I was coming out of my shell all over again!

When I found "Live Your Truth" - I thought "this is dumb, I'm a winter, yada, yada."

I can't wear orange (then I tried my Type's peach and coral)
But I have to wear black and gray (no, I don't)

One vital thing to remember, this is a money making venture for Carol Tuttle.  Lots of stuff to buy, lots of programs to join.  This is not a bad thing, I own a small business and I don't begrudge her one single second.)

The makeup is huge.

cons
  • a bit on the expensive side, but not by much.  It is not drug store quality...or cost.
  • There's no instant gratification
  • you can't try before you buy (with the colors that doesn't matter so much - see below - but I won't buy a foundation without seeing it on my skin)

pros
  • the quality of the product makes up for the cost.
  • the makeup is grouped by Type, so you know that the shade you buy will be spot on for your type
  • again with the quality.  From time to time I fall asleep without getting my makeup off.  In the morning, the eye shadow is still there.  I have all four lip colors for my Type and there is a difference in wear between them.  There are two different cases, one is all black, the other has a "window" where you can see the lip stick.  The one with the window seems to wear a bit better, but I'm happy with all of them.
  • What really make me happy:  most palettes come with a...palette of colors.  You get 16 colors and the colors that are already in the palette are what you get.  DYT (Dress Your Truth) sells empty, magnetic palettes in either 20 blanks or 3 blanks, and their eye shadows drop into the palettes.  You can arrange them how you would like, you only buy the ones that you want, this is marketing genius.  The blushes are the same way, and one palette has 3 blanks for blush and I think 5 or 6 for shadows - I will most likely get this (and buy more makeup) for travel.
So far, I really like the fashion and color system, even the subscription LifeStyle.

The other programs  really seem to hang on New Age strategies (Healing Center, etc.)  I have not and will not be joining any of those.

But the LifeStyle...it will open new horizons and stretch your comfort zones.  And for me, it was a good thing.
